Patient Liaison Group member vacancies
May 2008
The British Medical Association (BMA) occupies a high-profile position at the very heart of current debate over healthcare provision in the UK. With some 139,000 members, it is a voluntary association representing doctors from all branches of medicine. It operates as an independent trade union, a scientific and educational body and a publishing house.
We currently have four vacancies for patient/carer members of the BMA’s Patient Liaison Group (PLG). The BMA PLG provides the BMA with an informed patient view on healthcare. It consists of people from diverse backgrounds, including some with direct patient-based links, and has seats for 11 patient/carer members and 5 doctor members.
All applicants will:
- Be able to demonstrate an interest in healthcare policy and be committed to keeping in touch with developments
- Have good communication, team working and analytical skills. Applicants will also be confident about speaking at meetings
- Be able to attend four full-day meetings a year in London (expenses paid)
- Be able to read and comment on documents on healthcare issues from the patients’ view
BMA PLG members are voluntary. The BMA reimburses members any expenses they incur in the course of their duties.
BMA PLG welcomes applications from all, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, disability, chronic illness, religion or beliefs.
