Influenza


The Department of Health (DH) issued guidance in May 2008 on pandemic flu planning, including 'management of death certification and cremation certification' and 'infection control in critical care'.   • Pandemic flu - Joint NHSE/GPC agreement on practice resource maintenance - May 2008

    NHS Employers and the BMA's General Practitioners Committee have reached agreement on the maintenance of GMS practice resources in the event of an influenza pandemic.

    The BMA and the Department of Health are setting up a database of retired doctors who would like to offer their knowledge and experience to help in the event of a pandemic flu.
  • Pandemic flu - Infection control interim guidance, May 2006

    This is a joint guidance with the GPC and RCGP and covers keeping the flu pandemic in proportion, physical separation in the surgery, general working procedures, infection control precautions, enviromental infection control, home visiting teams, immune staff and a checklist for practices on current plandemic planning.
  • Flu pandemic preparations, service continuity planning - April 2006

    In response to the potential threat of a flu pandemic the GPC and RCGP have been working together through a joint RCGP/GPC Emergency Planning Group (Pandemic Influenza). The aim of the group is to provide advice and guidance specific to general practice on a range of issues that will need to be engaged in the event of a pandemic.
