Directories of online clinical journals
Associazione Italiana Biblioteche - a comprehensive list of biomedical e-journals, with notes on the extent of free content.

Free full-text journals - a listing from FreeMedicalJournals.com. Only those journals available free, or where a proportion of the content is free, are listed. Their related site is FreeBooks4Doctors, a listing of online medical textbooks freely available.

Pay-per-view and document delivery services
British Library 'Articles Direct' service is aimed at the occasional user. Articles are delivered by secure electronic delivery, mail, fax or courier.

ebrary specialise in online books from over 100 publishers.

Highwire Press claims to have the biggest archive of free life science articles in the world. It links to a mixture of free full-text, pay-per-view and free trial articles from over 4,500 medical journals.

The US-based document supplier Infotrieve has a pay-per-view 'e-DocLink' service where a link to a secure PDF file is given.

Ingenta provides pay-per-view access to over 5,400 full text professional and academic publications in many fields.

Science Direct - pay-per-view over 1,500 journals from the Elsevier publishing group, and link out to journals from 120 other publishers.

Individual journals and aggregates
BMJ
much free in full text from November 1994 onwards. All original research articles are freely available from the moment of publication, however the full text of other journal articles (for example, those appearing in the editorials, clinical review, and education and debate sections) will be free for the first week after publication, behind access controls for the next 51 weeks, and then free again after that.

BMJ specialist journals - access to all the current text is only available to subscribers but all journals now have a free back archive of material over 12 months old.

NLM PubMed Central - the free full text of the BMJ, the Canadian Medical Association Journal, Critical Care, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA and others including articles from the open-access life sciences publisher BioMed Central.

UK and world newspapers online
Listings of daily and weekly UK and US newspaper websites, and some online news services.
