The Government released the SAS contract and the BMA’s Staff and Associate Specialists Committee took the proposals to a vote of SAS doctors and dentists where the majority supported the introduction of the new contract. The following are links to all the essential documentation on the contract .

- New Pay scales for Specialty Doctors and new Associate Specialists (including 2008 DDRB uplifts)

- Ready reckoners (Optimal versions) which allow both Associate Specialists (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) and Staff Grades (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) (Excel spreadsheets) to see an estimate of what their salary would be under the proposed new contract. These have been updated to reflect the recent Government impositions which offer a transitional pay award as well as to include the 2008/09 DDRB recommended pay uplift. Although SASC had always been clear that the TCS as published earlier on the site were indicative versions of the documentation the Government interpretation of the latest TCS, as highlighted in the response from the Department of Health, is that these are final and not for further discussion. SASC negotiators had always been clear that once ratified we would resume discussion with NHS employers on the detail. This was agreed in informal discussions between SASC and NHSe but the agreement appears to have been reneged upon. Therefore these versions are, according to the Government, the final versions.
