The DDRB award for 2006/2007
The Doctors' & Dentists' Review Body recommended a general increase of 2.2% from April 2006 for junior doctors and consultants. Other doctors in the hospital and community health services will receive an increase of 2.4%. It was not required to make any recommendations for GP principals. The government has accepted all the DDRB's recommendations and they will be implemented in full from 1 April 2006, except for the award to consultants which will not be paid in full until 1 November 2006. An increase of 1% will be paid to consultants from April to October.

Doctors in training grades - out of hours payments
From 1 December 2000 a new pay system was introduced for remunerating out-of-hours duties undertaken by hospital and public health doctors in training. Each post is allocated to a salary band depending on whether:
- it meets the New Deal limits on hours of work and rest requirements
- number of hours actually worked
- type of working pattern, and anti-social nature of working arrangements
- intensity of work
The total salary for a post is calculated by applying a multiplier to the basic salary. The multipliers from December 2002 for doctors working full time are:

General Practitioners
With the introduction of a new contract for GPs, the DDRB was not required to make any recommendations for GP principals as the pricing of the contract was agreed in the negotiations. Under the new contract, which is practice- based, the previous system of fees and allowances has been replaced by eight major funding streams. These are:
- The “global sum”.
- Quality payments.
- Seniority payments.
- Enhanced services.
- Premises payments.
- Information technology payments.
- Dispensing payments (where applicable).
- Primary Care Organisation (PCO) administered funds.
