Report on a survey of the general public's views on NHS system reform

June 2008

Background
The views of the general public were gathered on the effectiveness of changes to the NHS over the past decade, commercial companies providing healthcare services to NHS patients and future funding of the NHS.

Method
The opinions of the general public were collected in street interviews in three geographic areas in the UK. Following a preamble introducing a statement respondents were asked to indicate their level of agreement with each statement. 200 interviews were conducted in the Scotland (Edinburgh), 609 in London and the Home Counties and 202 in the South West (Bristol). The interviews were conducted between 16 May and 13 June 2008. The questions can be found in appendix 1.

The percentages reported throughout this report are for illustrative purposes only and are not necessarily indicative of wider trends within the population.
